Saturday morning, Shea and I work up at 6am! We both slept like babies because it was one of the first times we had air conditioning with so much humidity since we had arrived in Costa Rica. Air conditioning is definitely one of those things I have taken for granted by living in the States. The sun is the strongest in Playa Tamarindo between 8am and 11am. The view of the beach from the pool area was absolutely gorgeous in the morning. After eating breakfast, we headed out to the beach to catch some rays on the sand. The tide was so low and the beach so calm, a picture you would see on the internet. While looking at all the different shells in the sand, I felt a huge shot of pain in my foot. I looked down to see a small crab hanging on the bottom of my foot. I quickly brushed it off and rain back to the hotel to wash my foot off because it was throbbing with pain. After that incident I decided to just lay in the sun for the majority of the morning until we had to head to our excursion for the weekend. Everyone in our close group decided to go on the catamaran tour. Of course the sun shined all morning and as soon as we started walking down the beach towards the boat, it began to rain. Thankfully it was so warm in Tamarindo that it did not phase us too much since we all obviously had our bathing suits on. Everyone waited on the Catamaran under the covered area until the rain let up a little bit. Once we were on our way, the bartender started the blender, the jams started playing and we were ready for a crazy afternoon. We sailed around the sea a little while until we made it to a little inner cove where we dropped the anchor. The catamaran was stocked with TONS of swim noodles, snorkel gear and paddle boards. We jumped off the catamaran, paddle boarded and swam in the water for roughly an hour and a half. During this time, our crew was busy preparing a homemade lunch for us. We all boarded the catamaran again to a delicious meal of chicken wings, homemade guacamole, chips, cookies and fresh fruit. After everyone finished eating, the crew turned on some dancing jams and taught us how to salsa. The catamaran all of a sudden became a huge dance party as we began sailing back to shore. Thankfully the rain slowed down and all the clouds disappeared into thin air with enough time to see the sun setting. The sunset over the Pacific ocean from the catamaran were absolutely breathtaking. Lake Michigan has some pretty amazing sunsets, but I think it is pretty hard to beat a sunset down here. We all crashed super early after the catamaran tour and woke up super early again on Sunday to catch some last minute rays before a long bus ride back to San Jose. Tamarindo was a gorgeous town, but it felt like we were in United States all over again because of all the Americanized tourism. After living in San Jose for a few weeks, it felt like a culture shock to all of us again. The bus ride was extremely long due to so much rain. The rain was coming down so fast and strong that we were practically flooding all of the cars driving next to our bus on the road. Thankfully the bus driver drove the majority of the students close to their houses so we did not get off the bus and have to swim to our houses. It was a fun weekend at the beach!! The weekend excursions are always a nice break from the city life in San Jose!
